A lighthousekeeper in Cromarty around the time of the First World War, Robert Clyne left an album of photographs from around Scotland. They are shown here courtesy of his great-granddaughter, Jane Bain. Many more can be seen on her genealogy website. A picture of Robert Clyne can be found here.

Calum Davidson
Calum and his family have lived in Cromarty since 1985, in Albion House, Church Street. A native of Caithness, Calum was brought up in Thurso, in Shetland and Inverness. I'm a regional planner and photographer, and on a day to day basis enjoy visually recording the every day life of Cromarty as a small Highland town, but also I like to capture the the more unusual and quirky objects that can be seen on a walk looking out to sea, at the harbour, along the beach, or through the streets and vennels of one of Scotland’s more historic little burghs. I have also written the Photographers Guide to Cromarty - available online.
John Paul Photography
Established in 1982, John Paul Photography has earned a reputation for work of the highest quality and superb service to its wide and numerous client base, including many National and International publications and companies. Based in North Scotland, assignments are undertaken nationally and throughout Europe.

Plexus Media
Plexus are web designers based in Cromarty. In 2003 we took the decision to create a website dedicated to collecting as many pictures of the town as possible. As you can see this has taken off hugely, with over 1000, from the early years of photography until the present day. One contributor has referred to this as 'living history'. We used to pay for the hosting of the site ourselves, but it has grown so large that Calico, the local Internet Service Provider, have agreed to sponsor the site by donating the webspace for free. We now use the little money we get through advertising on the site to buy old slides and postcards for use on the site.
