Bain Party

Lots of well known faces - Jackie Bain, Cynthia Bain and their sister Margaret are in there, along with Margaret's son Raymond and daughter Susan.

I'm pretty sure this is another shot of the guests at my 'going away' party (this would be 1975) as that appears to be 'JAN' on the wall behind and Margaret was wearing the same dress in my surprise party photo. This was possibly taken a few minutes before 'lights out' and my arrival!! --It was a great party! (Thanks, Caroline!) [see also picture #1572]

I think the man on the top right is my grandad, Keith Hill and my granny Helen Hill is there as well

I think Joan Reddigan is back second from end, also I think middle back is Eileen Ferguson, middle row second from left is Jennifer Nicolson, back third from left Margaret Cleeland - I might be totally wrong
but I am sure some folk will put me right if so.

Is there any Bains still in Cromarty. I know this is a long shot but my Grandads mother was Isabella May Bain and she was born in 1895 at Cromarty. She was married to a Roderick Duff who had 2 children, Roderick (Derry) (1928) and Jessie (1926). They lived at 35 Bank Street and would have left around the early 50's to either Glasgow or Birmingham. If anyone knows any further info that would help me with my family tree. I'd be eternally grateful at this very sad time. My Grandad passed away on the 25th October '05 and I'm desperate to locate his family.

Yes Nora, that is my mum Margaret Clelland and to the left in the red top is my old man Henry Cassie when he had hair on his head and not on his face! Is that Raymond Martin in front of my mother? My mum thinks that it's Jane McAulay in the centre but who's the guy with the moustache?

Yes that is Raymond, also I thought that was Jane McAulay, I don't know person with moustache, the face is familiar

Nora, not too sure, is man with moustache, Donnie [Buddles] Hossack, Janie's cousin? Also think man in pink shirt is Alistair Macdonald and wife, used to live near Eric Thomas.

Nora it is not Janie. Do you remember Jenny and Terry, he was Canadian and he worked at Nigg. Jenny worked in Matheson's and they lived above the bakery for a while. They went off to Canada and we are still in touch, had a long blether with her at New year.

This photo is very nice as it shows alot of my family and my mum (Cynthia). There are still Bains in Cromarty my gran Margaret Bain who lives in Clunes Cottage.

Hi Peter - picture #1534 shows your mum when she was a bit younger still.

Hey Grant! Remember me? The guy with the moustache and the woman next to him are Jenny and Terry. My mum (Caroline) was good friends with them. Think they are in Canada now. And Paul (yes my surname is Thomas but I am no relation to you) my mums family are Bains but my grandpa came from up north somewhere, not Cromarty itself
