Postcard showing Fishertown area and North Sutor

A picture of Fishertown taken from the Lady's walk. Wellington House is the White building in the centre of the picture and St Anne's the bigger one to the left. You can also see the very small houses that were positioned at the bottom of St Anne's garden (Now long gone).

Comments:
I've changed the date to 1970 (from 2008), as Albion House was "restored" by Mrs Middelton in the late 60's, and it looks like no 49 is not yet harrled, which I understand it was in the early 70's by the Hardies.

I've been reliably informed that the small houses along the front were knocked down before 1966 which is why we estimated the picture as the 50's. Anyone have an exact date for this?

Just to the right and behind the small white gable lie the gables of numbers 60 & 62. At the bottom of the gardens were two cottages and one house - I remember Buller and Anne lived in one of the cottages for a while. I also remember climbing onto the roof to watch the fleet come up the firth quite a few times when we lived at no62. The cottages may have still been there in '65 I think when my folks sold up - can't be certain.

I remember Daphne Maclean telling me about the cottage at the bottom of her then Garden, and how they were still there well into the 60's. I would suspect the photo is mid 60's as the brightness of the harling on Albion House suggests to me that it had just been restored by Mrs Middelton (it had been empty for a number of years through the late 50's and early 60's).
